Ad Astra - Isle of Arran

Welcome to The Ops Room
This is the place that will hopefully answer all your questions once you are have arrived and enjoying our home by the sea. giving you all the practical information you will need, room by room, and subject by subject ,to make sure that you get the best out of your holiday.
This page is currently in the process of being constructed. We are adding things as we go so please bear with us!
Outside surfaces can be slippery
Please take good care when walking on any of the timber decks, steps or paths as they can be slippery when wet.

Please do Not venture onto the cliff face
One of the lovely things about Ad Astra is the view. Beyond the garden we have a fence and beyond that is an area of grass and wild plants which lead down to the cliff face. ALL of this area is dangerous and under no circumstances should anyone go beyond the fence for any reason for your own safety.

Outside cushions
The cushions for the outside chairs and settees can be found in what we (affectionally call "The Bus Shelter"
Please don't leave them out if it looks as though rain is forecast as they may be less than dry when next you need them!!

the wood burners
It is not recommended that you use the wood burners during the summer months.
If you are chilly turning the electric wall mounted radiators on is a far quicker way of warming the house, but please only turn them up a little as they are surprisingly efficient.
However should you wish to have a fire I will run through some of the things to be particularly carful of....
I know it goes without saying, but please take extreme care as any fire if not properly managed can have disastrous consequences, also the outer casing can get very hot so be mindful of this and do not hang clothes close to them, use the fire screen at all times and be mindful of children.
Use only dry newspaper, kindling and logs and ensure that the door to the wood burner is firmly closed once lit.
Please do not overload the wood burners with to much wood and take particular care with the one in the dining room when opening the door as it is on a pedestal and any logs that lean forward will be in danger of falling out.
When loading the fire once it is going please use the gloves provided to ensure no fingers get burnt!
Accessible Wet room
The wet room is specifically designed to be wheel chair friendly with space to come in and turn inside the room. The shower has two fold back screens allowing unhindered access to the shower while the sink is designed so a wheelchair can park with the front wheels under the sink.
Please note that this room can be accessed both from the bedroom and the hall so can double as a cloakroom!
Geberit WC
We have left "Quick Guide" to using the Gebrit WC on the glass shelves in the wet room.
Please note that any detergents used while cleaning the Geberit WC should be low acidic and diluted with water
