Ad Astra - Isle of Arran

A robin has befriended us
You may well see him/her looking in at the window, or if you are outside it may well fly to within a foot or so of you.
You should find a small jar with sunflower seed in it. You are most welcome to put out a few seed for him/her and it will reward you with a really close encounter!
Only leave it a few seed as it takes them as a thank you not because it is Hungary and it doesn't do to have too many seeds around in case it attracts unwanted visitors!
Do enjoy this little birds close encounters; it can be very special.
Our Red squirrels

Some friends just never know when it's time to go!
We put out some seed for the smaller birds this winter and one of the eagle eyed gulls spotted it and popped along with a friend and downed it in one.
Next thing we knew it had come over to the window and was banging on the glass with its beak wanting more!
We made the mistake of finding it funny and obliging them with some more.... BIG MISTAKE... they didn't leave us alone for weeks!
Collard Doves
We have a pair of these lovely birds who will sit and coo at each other.
Last summer when it was really hot this one pained us and sat for hours only feet away. To be honest I wonder if it was overwhelmed with the heat rather than just enjoying our company!

Goldfinch
These are one of the more colourful flocks that visit us throughout the year
